As Britain’s oldest and largest Dark Age re-enactment group, The Vikings present historically realistic displays of trading, culture and battle of the period of British history from the sixth to eleventh centuries AD.
Formed in 1971 and with 1,200 members in the UK and a further 300 abroad, The Vikings are the premier society re-enacting the Viking Age. Whilst concentrating mainly on the period from 790 to 1066, appropriate modifications to dress and equipment used means we can widen that to suit 600AD up to 1300AD. Our aim is to provide an accurate and educational portrayal of the period, with emphasis on the daily life of the period, and the more warlike aspects of life in a formative period of European history. To do this, we also represent the Saxons, Normans and Celtic inhabitants of these isles too.
Let us enhance your venue or tour by engaging with visitors large and small to bring the Dark Ages to life in an exciting and fun way.
