Norman Tilley from Tankerton in Kent writes about holidays to Spain that he organises for his group – the Old Southeronians Association and friends.
Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote is one of our favourite holiday destinations as the weather is good and warm in early spring. We flew from Gatwick to the island with Norwegian Airlines who are group friendly and offer competitive group prices , as well as allowing us to book block seating allocation, for free, in advance of check in. This is a real bonus as we are a mature group and many couples do prefer to sit with a spouse during a flight and we appreciate not having to pay an extra fee for this service or wait till check in and risk being separated.
As usual, during our holidays, members were free in the day time but we met for dinner every evening to swap experiences and to catch up on activities. Some members relaxed at the hotel but others travelled around using the local bus services. We also hired a coach on two days to tour the island, which has some remarkable scenery and attractions.
We also go on holidays where I organise bowling matches with expat teams around Spain’s Costa del Sol. Last October we used the Hotel Piramides on the seafront at Fuengirola and we are again staying there next October due to its location and good value rates. For this type of holiday, I recommend booking well in advance to ensure you get the the precise hotels, flights and matches with bowling clubs on the dates that you need .
