Elaine Morris took a large group of family members to London in February.

‘As a family we decided to have a trip to London to celebrate our daughter’s 40th birthday. There were seventeen of us. We drove to Victoria Station car park then got the tube to Covent Garden. The children in our group find these Underground journeys very exciting, and, after waving to the train driver as the train entered the station, they loved it when he took the time to thank them over the tannoy for their warm welcome.

After a short walk we arrived at the Gillian Lynne Theatre to see School of Rock – The Musical, which was amazing and suited everyone in our group. We all enjoyed it, both male and female, from twins aged four right up to the adults. The young cast are so talented!

For a meal after the performance we had booked into the Rainforest Cafe in Shaftesbury Avenue. This was a good choice as the younger children just loved the animatronic moving animals and tropical sounds, and the restaurant specialises in accommodating groups. It is themed as an Amazon jungle with cascading waterfalls and periodic thunderstorms. The service was outstanding and this was due to our waitress Dita who was really on the ball and made the visit special. For groups of more than six, you need to book in advance over the phone.

This is an itinerary I would particularly recommend to mixed groups!’
