In mid-November last year, Sue Shapland of Exmoor Extroverts took a group on a short break to London with local firm Ridlers Coaches, who Sue has been using since 2005.

‘On this three night trip, based in and around London, our first evening was at the Mill at Sonning – just brilliant! If you don’t know of it, it is a theatre/restaurant beside the Thames known for good food and the quality of its productions. Our visit to Westminster Abbey the next morning was subject to a quick re-think when we unfortunately coincided with one of their services. Instead, we took a tour around the Houses of Parliament. We then got our visit to Westminster Abbey. It wasn’t long enough really to see all that was there, but we will return to see their recent addition, the hidden “attic” museum, The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries. Our trip also included the opening evening of the Christmas lights at Kew Gardens.

A visit to the fabulous Tutankhamun exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery, dinner at the 5* Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, and the Classical Spectacular at the Royal Albert Hall (with cannons, and musketeers from Moscow) filled a day, and then on the way home we called at Reading Museum for a guided tour of the copy of the Bayeux Tapestry. As you can see it was quite a full programme – very much enjoyed!’
