From Proms to Cars

gg1At the beginning of August, Carol and Richard Swiecicka from Newton Abbot Travel Club took 48 members on an overnight trip and enjoyed the Battle Proms at Highclere and a visit to Beaulieu. Carol continues:

“Travelling with Blakes Coaches of Tiverton, we stopped at Sanders Garden World, near Burnham on Sea, for an early lunch before making our way to the Q Hotel Norton Park, Winchester. After freshening up, we had a short journey to Highclere Castle for the Battle Proms concert. We had tables in the Concert Pavilion and could come and go as we wished, The Travel Club supplied drinks and some nibbles but each member brought their own picnic supper. Enough food was leftover for a picnic on the way home next evening!

gg2The concert was perfect and the Grace Spitfire ariel display excellent. A lovely sunset took place as we all waved our flags and sang ‘Jerusalem’, ‘Land of Hope & Glory’ and ‘Rule Britannia’. Emma from JSL Productions, who presented the Proms, was very helpful with our booking and on the evening – thank you Emma.

After a good night’s sleep and breakfast at Norton Park we went to Beaulieu for the day. There was much to enjoy from the National Motor Museum to a singing and piano recital and a falconry display. Although we had over five hours it was a rush to see everything in time!”
