Explore Poole with City Cruises

City Cruises Poole is inviting GTO readers to join them for a cruise around Poole Harbour and afterwards to sample other ideas for group activities in the town.

The itinerary:

Wednesday 19th June

12.30pm Cruise departs from Poole Quay.
1.40pm Cruise returns to Poole Quay.
2.00pm Met by guide for Guided Walk or make your way to RNLI College – it’s a half-mile walk or drive by car.
2.30pm Tour of RNLI College starts.
3.15pm Tour of college ends with cup of tea.
3.30pm Readers’ Day ends – explore Poole at leisure and make way to hotel if booked.
The day will start at midday and GTOs will join the City Cruises Poole team on-board for a 12.30 departure for a cruise around Poole Harbour. During the trip around Europe’s largest natural harbour you will enjoy a live commentary and see sights such as the picturesque Brownsea Island and the Sandbanks Peninsula – home of the wealthy. A fish and chip lunch will be served.**

Returning to Poole Quay, GTOs can opt to visit the RNLI’s College, the national training centre for the lifesaving volunteer crew, where they can enjoy a guided tour of its extensive facilities including the deep water pool where life-threatening situations can be created for training purposes. After the tour enjoy a cup of tea. Alternatively, you can join a local expert guide for a walking tour of the town to discover its fascinating heritage, finishing at the RNLI College for a cup of tea.

This exclusive day will take place on Wednesday 19th June and is for GTOs who would like to organise a similar day for their group.

How to apply

Exploring Poole with City Cruises is open to genuine GTOs looking to bring a group back in the future. GTOs may apply for a maximum of two places and there are up to 38 in total. There are only 30 places on the RNLI tour and so a draw will operate if either the day or this option is oversubscribed.* In addition, local hotels have offered a discount (subject to availability) for GTOs wishing to stay overnight – and GTOs interested in receiving more information should indicate when applying for the readers’ day.

To apply tick the relevant box on our Free Readers Response Service by 29th May 2019.

Successful applicants will be advised by 11th June. Failure to advise us of cancellations will result in exclusion from future Reader’s Events.

*If you have special access requirements please ask for advice when registering for this Readers’ Event.  ** Meal options will be advised to successful applicants.
